The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a component (16) for a backlighting device, the method comprising the following steps: - depositing a cover layer on a reflective polariser, said reflective polariser (17) comprising a multilayer optical film (171); - printing patterns in the cover layer such that said printed cover layer forms an optical diffuser (18).
