The compositions can be prepared by reacting a bio-based polyol with an isocyanate and an ionogenic molecule. The compositions can be used to treat a variety of substrates to provide enhanced properties to a surface of the substrate. Also provided are methods for the chemical modification of triglycerides and fatty acids and use thereof in creating beneficial surface treating compositions. L'invention concerne des compositions de traitement de surface destinées à conférer des propriétés de surface avantageuses à des substrats. Les compositions peuvent être préparées par réaction d'un polyol d'origine biologique avec un isocyanate et une molécule ionogène. Ces composition peuvent être utilisées pour traiter divers substrats afin de conférer des propriétés améliorées à une surface du substrat. L'invention concerne également des procédés de modification chimique de triglycérides et d'acides gras et leur utilisation dans la création de compositions de traitement de surface avantageuses.
