METHOD FOR CONNECTING OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE, AND OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE CONNECTION STRUCTURE

A method for connecting an optical waveguide comprises bringing an optical fiber block (20) having a through-passage (34) into contact with a spacer (60) in a state in which the optical fiber block (20) is held against a substrate, the substrate having the spacer, which is a frame-shaped spacer formed so as to surround a light input part (12) provided to the substrate (10), then adjusting the inclination of the optical fiber block by releasing holding of the optical fiber block, supplying an adhesive (70) to the outside of the spacer on the substrate, aligning the optical fiber block holding an optical fiber with the light input part so that the intensity of light emitted from the substrate is maximized, compressing the spacer against the substrate so as to push in the optical fiber block having the through-passage, and curing the adhesive in a state in which the spacer is compressed.
