Fermentation conditions are provided that promote formation of different colony morphologies, each of which have different genotypes, gene expression, cyclic lipopeptide production profiles, and bioactivity against particular pests an pathogens. L'invention concerne des procédés et des compositions pour des souches microbiennes améliorées de la famille taxonomique Bacillaceae, mettant en œuvre particulièrement des entités comme les iturines, les fengycines et/ou les surfactines. Des conditions de fermentation sont fournies, qui favorisent la formation de différentes morphologies de colonie, qui présentent chacune des génotypes, une expression génique, des profils de production de lipopeptides cycliques et une bioactivité contre des organismes nuisibles particuliers différents.
