A washing machine (20) according to embodiment 1 of the present disclosure comprises: a washing and dehydration tub (23) that accommodates laundry (21); and stirring blades (24) provided in the washing and dehydration tub (23). In addition, the washing machine (20) comprises a control unit (31) that controls the washing machine (20), and a clutch spring (37) through which motive power is transmitted from an electric motor (30) to the washing and dehydration tub (23). The control unit (31) adds, to the clutch spring (37), torque larger than the lower limit of torque transmittable to the washing and dehydration tub (23) during a deceleration period of the washing and dehydration tub (23).
