METHOD FOR GENERATING A HYDROGEL FROM A CO2 GAS STREAM

The present disclosure relates to a method of sequestering carbon dioxide which comprises the steps of capturing carbon dioxide from an industrial gaseous waste stream and/or the atmosphere, converting a CO2 from the CO2 gas stream into a (COOH)2 and combining the (COOH)2, a mono-alcohol (X-OH), preferably CH3CH2OH, and a first acid catalyst comprising a H2SO4 at a temperature ranging from about 80 °C to about 100 °C and under atmospheric pressure to produce an ester comprising a (COOX)2 and preferably (COOEt)2;and the ester obtained is reacted with a polyol, preferably glycerine to form a polyester, preferably the polyester is a hydrogel.The present disclosure further relates to the use of a hydrogel which is obtainable by said method. La présente divulgation concerne un procédé de séquestration de dioxyde de carbone, qui comprend les étapes consistant à capturer le dioxyde de carbone provenant d'un courant d'effluents gazeux industriels et/ou de l'atmosphère, à convertir un CO2 provenant du courant de CO2 gazeux en un (COOH)2 et à combiner le (COOH)2, un mono-alcool (X-OH), de préférence CH3CH2OH, et un premier catalyseur acide comprenant un H2SO4 à une température comprise dans la plage d'environ 80 °C à environ 100 °C et sous pression atmosphérique pour produire un ester comprenant un (COOX)2 et de préférence un (COOEt)2 ; et l'ester obtenu est mis à réagir avec un polyol, de préférence le glycérol, pour former un polyester, le polyester étant de préférence un hydrogel. La présente divulgation concerne en outre l'utilisation d'un hydrogel pouvant être obtenu par ledit procédé.
