There is disclosed a mouth piece, filter element or cooling element (100) for an aerosol generating article comprising: a first section (110) comprising a longitudinally extending core of filtering material (112) having an outer surface (116) and an inner surface (118), the inner surface (118) defining a channel (114) extending longitudinally from an end of the first section (110); a second section (120) comprising a longitudinally extending core of filtering material (122); wherein the first section (110) and the second section (120) are adjacent and integral; wherein the channel (114) has a non-circular transverse cross section which varies in the longitudinal direction by rotating about a longitudinal axis of the first section (110).
