Zusammenfassung: | The invention related to a catalyst for performing a reverse-water-gas-shift (RWGS) reaction comprising: a porous support; and an alkali carbonate dispersed on the porous support. The alkali carbonate as part of the catalyst is in a form of M2CO3, where M+ = Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, and/or Cs+. The catalyst is substantially free of elements in groups 5 through 12 of the periodic table, wherein group 5 is a column of the periodic table beginning with V and group 12 is a column of the periodic table beginning with Zn. The porous support comprises at least one of titania (TiO2), alumina (AhO3), zirconia (ZrO2), or a carbon material. The catalyst is not poisoned by sulfur-containing impurities. The alkali carbonate is substantially amorphous.
