Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a polyester industrial yarn for a cable and a preparation method therefor. The method comprises subjecting a modified polyester to solid-phase polycondensation and tackifying, followed by spinning and winding same and subjecting same to a coordination treatment to obtain the polyester industrial yarn, wherein the coordination treatment involves soaking the wound fiber into an aqueous solution of a coordination agent, wherein the aqueous solution of a coordination agent has a concentration of 0.1-0.2 mol/L, the conditions of the coordination treatment are at 80-100°C for 60-72 h, and the coordination agent is NiCl2. Polyester chain segments of the prepared polyester industrial yarn for a cable comprise a terephthalic acid chain segment, an oxalic acid chain segment and a 2,2-bipyridine-4,4-dicarboxylic acid chain segment, and 2,2-bipyridine-4,4-dicarboxylic acid chain segments of different polyester chain segments are coordinated by means of Ni2+.
