DYNAMIC BY-PASS CONDUCTOR

A lightning protection apparatus for a liquid storage tank having a shell and a floating roof is provided. The lightning protection apparatus comprises a housing; and a conductor spooled within the housing. The conductor is extendable from the housing and connectable to the floating roof of the tank to create a conductive path between the shell and the floating roof when the housing is mounted to the shell. The conductor may comprise a solid metallic tape having an end that is connectable to the floating roof. The housing may be constructed from a polymer material. La présente invention concerne un appareil de protection contre la foudre destiné à un réservoir de stockage de liquide doté d'une coque et d'un toit flottant. L'appareil de protection contre la foudre comprend un boîtier ; et un conducteur enroulé à l'intérieur du boîtier. Le conducteur peut être étendu à partir du boîtier et être connecté au toit flottant du réservoir pour créer un trajet conducteur entre la coque et le toit flottant lorsque le boîtier est monté sur la coque.
