The present application provides a method for detecting a video monitoring device, and an electronic device. According to the method and the electronic device, a target detection channel is determined according to access points around the electronic device, the signal strength of the channel being greater than or equal to a preset threshold, and/or the channel having a frequency band of 2.4 GHz; traffic data corresponding to a target device in the channel is obtained; it is determined, according to the traffic data and a detection model, whether the target device is a video monitoring device.
