MANUFACTURING AN OPTICAL ELEMENT

A method of manufacturing an optical element, the method comprising: providing a substrate; providing a tool comprising, on a first side, a section defining a surface structure of the optical element; aligning the tool and the substrate with respect to each other and bringing the tool and a first side of the substrate together, with material between the tool and the substrate; positioning a transparent masking structure adjacent to the substrate onto which the material has adhered, the masking structure comprising a masking layer; emitting light through the masking structure to be incident on a portion of the material to cure said potion of the material, wherein the masking layer prevents light from being incident on a remaining portion of the material such that the remaining portion of the material is uncured; and removing the uncured remaining portion of the material. L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un élément optique, le procédé comprenant : l'utilisation d'un substrat; l'utilisation d'un outil comprenant, sur un premier côté, une section définissant une structure de surface de l'élément optique; l'alignement de l'outil et du substrat l'un par rapport à l'autre et la mise en contact de l'outil et d'un premier côté du substrat, avec un matériau entre l'outil et le substrat; le positionnement d'une structure de masquage transparente adjacente au substrat sur lequel le matériau a adhéré, la structure de masquage comprenant une couche de masquage; l'envoi de lumière à travers la structure de masquage pour qu'elle arrive sur une partie du matériau pour faire durcir ladite partie du matériau, la couche de masquage empêchant la lumière d'arriver sur une partie restante du matériau de telle sorte que la partie restante du matériau est non durcie; et le retrait de la partie restante non durcie du matériau.
