Provided are a method and apparatus for data stream analysis. The method comprises: distributing one of a plurality of sampling periods to an audio and video stream so that the plurality of sampling periods undertake the sampling of different audio and video streams, wherein the plurality of sampling periods have the same sampling duration and different initiation times; copying, on the basis of a sampling flow entry, the first-arrival data message of the audio and video stream in the distributed sampling period as a first sampling data message; copying, on the basis of the sampling flow entry, the last-arrival data message of the audio and video stream in the distributed sampling period as a second sampling data message; calculating a sending-end delay and a receiving-end delay of the audio and video stream on the basis of timestamps of the first sampling data message and the second sampling data message; and analyzing the jitter of the audio and video stream on the basis of the sending-end delay and the rec
