FLAME-RETARDANT MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME

The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a novel flame-retardant material which has a property of being rarely eluted in water, does not have toxicity and metal corrosiveness, and has been treated with a biodegradable flame-retardance-imparting agent; and a method for producing the flame-retardant material. The flame-retardant material according to the present invention has such a configuration that a raw material is impregnated with at least one flame-retardant and poorly-soluble protein and/or the surface of the raw material is coated with at least one flame-retardant and poorly-soluble protein. The method for producing a protein-containing material according to present invention comprises: a step for impregnating a raw material with a protein-containing solution that contains at least one poorly-soluble protein to form a protein-containing part in the inside of the raw material; and/or a step for coating the surface of the raw material with the protein-containing solution to form a protein-containing part on the surface of the raw material.
