In the method, according to an acquired target physical address, a first number of alternative physical addresses with a relatively high similarity to the target physical address can be first determined from a database, and a device model, with the maximum frequency of occurrence, among device models corresponding to the first number of alternative physical addresses can then be determined to be the device model of a target terminal device. Therefore, even if a device model corresponding to the target physical address is not stored in the database, the device model of the target terminal device can still be determined according to the similarity of the physical addresses, thereby effectively improving the success rate of device model identification and reducing the requirement for the amount of data stored in a database.
