The present disclosure relates to recombinant methanotrophic bacteria capable of synthesizing indigo from methane, a method of developing said recombinant methanotrophic bacteria, and a method of indigo biosynthesis by the recombinant methanotrophic bacteria in presence of a methane source. La présente invention se situe dans le domaine des biosciences, plus particulièrement vis-à-vis de la biotechnologie moléculaire et industrielle. La présente invention concerne des bactéries méthanotrophes recombinantes capables de synthétiser de l'indigo à partir de méthane, un procédé de développement desdites bactéries méthanotrophes recombinantes, et un procédé de biosynthèse d'indigo par les bactéries méthanotrophes recombinantes en présence d'une source de méthane.
