The present invention achieves an automated analyzer capable of maintaining a normal device condition and exhibiting stable performance by automatically monitoring the state of the implementation of washing using a washing rack. This automated analyzer comprises: at least one analysis unit 5-8 for analyzing a sample, a rack insertion part 1 into which at least a sample rack 92 holding the sample and a washing rack holding a cleaning liquid are inserted, a conveyance mechanism 3 for at least conveying the sample rack 92 and washing rack inserted into the rack insertion part 1 to the analysis unit 5-8, and an overall management and control unit 11 for controlling the operation of the analysis unit 5-8, rack insertion part 1, and conveyance mechanism 3. The overall management and control unit 11 causes the washing rack to be conveyed to the analysis unit 5-8, causes a cleaning operation for the analysis unit 5-8 to which the cleaning rack has been conveyed to be carried out using the cleaning liquid held in the cleaning rack, and causes sample analysis operation by the analysis unit 5-8 to which the cleaning rack has been conveyed to be stopped until the performance of the analysis unit 5-8 is determined to be normal on the basis of the cleaning operation.
