A communication system for an air conditioner having a control substrate in the interior of the housing, said communication system being equipped with: a communication conversion unit that is provided in the interior of the housing, extracts a required electrical signal from the control substrate, and converts the extracted signal to a digital signal for wired transmission; a cable, one end of which is connected to the communication conversion unit, and which is led out to the outside from the interior of the housing; and an antenna unit that is connected to the other end of the cable on the outside of the housing, and that is able to communicate wirelessly with a base station.
