The method comprises: sending to a superior entity a first downloading request for requesting to download a top part segment of a media content; receiving the top part segment of the media content from the superior entity; receiving a second downloading request of an inferior entity for requesting to download the top part segment of the media content; and sending the top part segment of the media content to the inferior entity. In embodiments of the present invention, before receiving a downloading request of an inferior entity for requesting to download the top part segment of the media content, the top part segment of the media content is obtained from the superior entity, so that the top part segment of the media content can be directly returned to the inferior entity, such that a response delay of a media content service is reduced.
