POWER SYSTEM AND RELAY

This power system comprises: a power conditioner; and a relay that detects the occurrence of an accident with a transmission line on the basis of whether current limiting control of the power conditioner is being executed. The power conditioner has an inverter circuit that converts direct-current power from a direct-current power supply into alternating-current power and then supplies the alternating-current power to the transmission line, and a control circuit that is configured to be capable of executing current limiting control, which inhibits or stops output current of the inverter circuit when the voltage on the output side of the inverter circuit matches a predetermined condition. The power system may include a rotary generator that supplies power to the transmission line. The relay may be a distance relay that detects an accident with the transmission line on the basis of whether the impedance of the transmission line matches a prescribed impedance condition determined in advance. The distance relay may detect that an accident with the transmission line has occurred when there has been a match of the impedance with the prescribed impedance condition, or when there has been execution of the current limiting control.
