The present invention relates to a method for operating an eyeball tumor treatment system having improved safety, and an eyeball tumor treatment system. The method for operating an eyeball tumor treatment system according to the present invention includes the steps of: obtaining a reference image for a treatment target eyeball by using a THz wave; obtaining a real-time image of the treatment target eyeball by using the THz wave while applying a proton beam to the treatment target eyeball; and determining the degree of movement of the treatment target eyeball by comparing the reference image with the real-time image.
