METHODS FOR PROVIDING HIGHLY PURE PALMITOYLETHANOLAMIDE (PEA), PURE PEA PREPARATIONS, AND USES THEREOF

The invention relates to the field of medicinal chemistry, more in particular to methods for providing highly pure, pharmaceutical grade synthetic Palmitoylethanolamine (PEA), to pure PEA preparations obtainable thereby, and the uses thereof. Provided is a method for providing pure PEA, comprising the steps of (i) heating a suspension of crude PEA in a solvent mixture in the presence of a base catalyst having a pKA of at least 13 to reflux, thereby allowing the formation of crystalline PEA; and (ii) isolating said crystalline PEA. L'invention se rapporte au domaine de la chimie médicale, et concerne plus particulièrement des procédés permettant de fournir une palmitoyléthanolamine (PEA) synthétique de qualité pharmaceutique très pure, des préparations de PEA pures pouvant être obtenues par ledit procédé, ainsi que leurs utilisations. L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de fournir une PEA pure, comprenant les étapes consistant à (i) chauffer une suspension de PEA brute dans un mélange de solvants en présence d'un catalyseur de base ayant un pKA d'au moins 13 jusqu'au reflux, ce qui permet de former une PEA cristalline ; et (ii) isoler ladite PEA cristalline.
