SPECIFIC SIGNALLING SYSTEM FOR WARNING ROAD USERS OF THE IMMINENT OPENING OF VEHICLE DOORS

Signalling system for vehicles, specifically intended to warn other road users of the imminent opening of any vehicle doors prior to opening, characterised in that the system gives said other road users newfound time to react to the unexpected opening of vehicle doors by vehicle occupants. The system is based on the installation of a set of powerful flashing lights (2R, 2N) around the outside rear-view mirrors of the vehicle, completely surrounding the mirror side of said rear-view mirrors, said warning lights being oriented horizontally in order to be seen (not downward or groundward) and away from the vehicle so as to be easily visible to road users without bothering the driver. In addition, the aforementioned set of warning lights is connected (by means of a suitable connector) to presence sensors (7) (volumetric or infrared) installed on each of the interior handles (5) of the vehicle doors, allowing a hand to be detected prior to the hand touching any of the interior handles (6) or the specific system for opening the doors when the occupants are preparing to operate same in order to open the door and exit, thereby gaining newfound essential time during which other road users are warned by means of the illuminated powerful flashing lights (2R, 2N) on the rear-view mirror corresponding to the side of the vehicle on which one of the doors is going to open, thereby giving users a reaction time which they do not currently have. This signalling system, which provides a specific solution to a concrete problem, is always enabled in the vehicle, but comes into operation only when the vehicle is stopped and safety belts unfastened, at which time occupants are usually preparing to open the doors and get out.
