Zusammenfassung:	Provided by the embodiments of the present application are a method and device for publishing video files, which are applied to a server, the method comprising: obtaining a video file to be published; selecting a first preset number of video frames from the video file to be published; generating a target video file from the selected video frames; determining a target display location of the target video file in a video preview interface; saving a correspondence relationship between the target display location and the target video file so that a first terminal that logs in to a server plays back the target video file at the target display location in the video preview interface according to the correspondence relationship. Hence, since the first terminal plays back the target video file at the target display location in the video preview interface, a user may learn from the target video file more information that is related to the content of the video file to be published, thus enhancing user experience.
