Provided is a building material selection apparatus or the like with which it is possible to perform a cross-cutting study of building materials supplied from numerous manufacturers to select a building material. This building material selection apparatus is provided with: a place reception unit that receives the place where a building material is to be used; a first output unit that outputs building material candidates associated with the place received by the place reception unit, and outputs the specifications of the candidates; a building material reception unit that receives a building material selected from among the candidates output from the first output unit; and a first recording unit that records, in a storage unit, a combination of the place received by the place reception unit and the building material received by the building material reception unit.
