SHAPE MEMORY ANCHOR FOR UMBILICAL TERMINATION

This invention relates to a termination assembly for an umbilical comprising a chamber through which pass one or more tubes extending from the umbilical, the chamber containing a filler material, wherein at least one tube is provided with an anchor for securing the at least one tube in the filler material, the anchor comprising a shape memory material. The invention also relates to a method of making a termination assembly for an umbilical. The method comprises the steps of:(a) providing an anchor for mounting onto one of the tubes, the anchor comprising a shape memory material in a second phase and comprising an aperture which is in a second shape which the tube can pass through,(b)sliding the anchor onto the tube by passing the tube through the aperture, (c)allowing the shape memory alloy to undergo a phase change in which at least some of the second phase converts to a first phase such that the aperture returns towards a first shape which the tube cannot pass through, the anchor thereby gripping the tube, and (d) adding a filler material to the chamber. La présente invention concerne un ensemble de terminaison pour une liaison ombilicale comportant une chambre au travers de laquelle passent un ou plusieurs tubes s'étendant en provenance de la liaison ombilicale, la chambre contenant un matériau de remplissage, dans lequel au moins un tube comporte un ancrage servant à des fins d'assujettissement dudit au moins un tube dans le matériau de remplissage, l'ancrage comportant un matériau à mémoire de forme. L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication d'un ensemble de terminaison pour une liaison ombilicale. Le procédé comporte les étapes consistant à : (a) mettre en œuvre un ancrage à des fins de montage sur l'un des tubes, l'ancrage comportant un matériau à mémoire de forme dans une deuxième phase et comportant une ouverture qui est dans une deuxième forme au travers de laquelle le tube peut passer, (b) faire coulisser l'ancrage sur le tube en faisant passer le tube au travers de l'ouverture, (c) permettre à l'alliage à mémoire de forme de subir un changement de phase dans lequel au moins une partie de la deuxième phase se transforme en une première phase de telle sorte que l'ouverture revient vers une première forme au travers de laquelle le tube ne peut pas passer, l'ancrage saisissant ainsi le tube, et (d) ajouter un matériau de remplissage dans la chambre.
