This movement capability evaluation device is provided with a communication unit and a control unit. The communication unit is configured to acquire anterior-posterior acceleration, lateral acceleration, and vertical acceleration of a moving subject, as measured by an acceleration sensor mounted on the waist of the subject. The control unit is configured to evaluate the movement capability of the subject on the basis of changes over time in the anterior-posterior acceleration, lateral acceleration, and vertical acceleration acquired by the communication unit. The movement capability of the subject includes at least one among anterior-posterior balance, lateral balance, and weight transfer during movement of the subject.
