The mat has laterally extending wings, that are connected to each other by a tear-open section in a manufacturing configuration, that is opened to create the use configuration. La présente invention concerne un mat absorbant, tel qu'une alaise ou un tapis de change, par exemple pour protéger un support sous-jacent contre des salissures, ainsi qu'un procédé pour la formation d'une telle alaise ou d'un tel tapis. Le mat comporte des ailes s'étendant latéralement, qui sont reliées entre elles par une section à ouverture déchirable dans une configuration de fabrication, qui est ouverte pour créer la configuration d'utilisation.
