[Problem] To provide a roof box such that automation of operations from the unlocking of either the right or left side of an opening/closing cover in a traveling direction of a vehicle to the opening/closing of the cover can be achieved, and the opening/closing operation of the opening/closing cover and safety during the traveling of the vehicle can be ensured. [Solution] In order to solve the problem, the roof box is characterized by being equipped with: a roof box body 12; securing mechanisms which are disposed on both sides of the roof box body 12, and which lock a storage section 12a and an opening/closing cover 12b together in an engaged state with each other; unlocking mechanisms 34a, 34b which are respectively attached to locking mechanisms 24 disposed on both side parts of the roof box body 12, and which perform disengagement/unlocking of the locking mechanisms; opening/closing means 14a, 14b which, when locking mechanisms 24 located on one side are disengaged/unlocked, cause the opening/closing cover 12b to be opened/closed about locking mechanisms 24 located on the other side as base points; an operation means 54 which is capable of selecting locking mechanisms 24 to be disengaged/unlocked, and transmitting an open/close signal to the opening/closing means 14a, 14b to open/close the opening/closing cover 12b; and a control means 38 which, upon receiving the open/close signal from the operation means 54, outputs a disengagement/unlock signal to locking mechanisms 24 located on the selected side, and which outputs an open/close signal, after the disengagement/unlocking is completed, to the opening/closing means 14a, 14b to release the opening/closing cover 12b.
