An advertisement pushing method and a router. The advertisement pushing method comprises: a router receiving a message from an accessed device in a local area network where it is itself located, searching for a commodity name corresponding to a data field in the received message, and sending the found commodity name to a background advertisement server; the background advertisement server searching a pre-set second correspondence relationship between a commodity name and an advertisement for an advertisement corresponding to the received commodity name, and sending the found advertisement to the router; and the router sending the received advertisement to all accessed devices in the local area network where it is itself located. The above-mentioned solution achieves advertisement pushing by means of the router without needing to embed scripts or codes into a terminal, thereby avoiding attacks from malicious codes and improving the security of advertisement pushing.
