Des particules d'oxyde de cuivre ayant des caractéristiques de départ particulières en termes de taille et d'aire de surface peuvent être traitées thermiquement et broyées pour atteindre des tailles et des distributions granulométriques conférant les propriétés de l'oxyde de cuivre sous la forme d'un pigment réfléchissant le rayonnement infrarouge sans l'ajout d'autres métaux ou oxydes.
