PROCESSED FOOD, SUCH AS PETFOOD, WITH IMPROVED PALATABILITY

A processed food has an inoffensive or pleasant aroma. The aroma may be developed by including carbohydrate-rich protein sources and limiting non-nutritive acids, plasticizers, and/or artificial colorants. The aroma may be developed or maintained by including anti-oxidants such as vitamin C and vtamin E and/or limiting animal digests or animal by-products added after cooking the food. The food may exclude or have limited content of rendered products of bovine or porcine origin. The food may be an extruded dry dog petfood having a "toasty" flavor. Cet arôme peut être élaboré par inclusion de sources de protéines riches en glucides et par limitation des acides non nutritifs, des ramollissants et/ou des colorants artificiels. Ledit arôme peut être élaboré ou préservé par inclusion d'anti-oxydants, tels que la vitamine C et la vitamine E, et/ou par limitation des produits de digestion ou des sous-produits animaux ajoutés après cuisson de l'aliment. L'aliment selon l'invention peut être exempt ou présenter un contenu limité de produits d'équarrissage d'origine bovine ou porcine. Cet aliment peut être un aliment extrudé pour chiens présentant une saveur rôtie.
