Zusammenfassung:The group of inventions relates to paper technology. The technical result of the present invention is that of widening the scope of the technological capabilities of the process for producing a watermark in paper while enhancing the potential of the watermark as a protective anti-counterfeiting element. This result is achieved in that the method for manufacturing paper with a multitone watermark consists of using a relief mask for forming a paper web on a paper machine, said relief mask being a partially permeable forming element. This element is formed on the surface of a forming mesh cylinder, or on a dandy roll of a Fourdrinier machine. The mask has a variable height across the area of the watermark image, produced by the relief stamping of the mesh, of electrotypes and/or the combined stamping of the mesh and the electrotypes, and/or by the use of a multiplicity of electrotype layers; furthermore, the individual successive electrotype layers in the mask can have apertures varying in diameter and in density. The mask is assembled from a plurality of layers of perforated metal plates or the mask is assembled from a plurality of layers of polymer plates or composite materials, resin (adhesives) filling is used in the formation of the mask, the mask is combined of a plurality of layers of perforated plates of metal, polymers, and composite materials.
