ILLUMINATING APPARATUS

Provided is an illuminating apparatus having high illumination efficiency and more excellent appearance by reducing light output to unnecessary directions, and by reducing luminance unevenness. The illuminating apparatus is provided with: a light source; and a light guide plate, which is provided with a first main surface and a second main surface facing each other, and which receives light from the light source, repeats internal reflection between the first main surface and the second main surface, and guides the light toward the predetermined direction. The illuminating apparatus is characterized in that: the illuminating apparatus is provided with a plurality of light path deflecting sections on the second main surface by aligning the light path deflecting sections in the predetermined direction, said light path deflecting sections receiving and diffusing a part of the light guided in the light guide plate, and deflecting the diffused light such that the diffused light has both a normal line direction component of the first main surface and a component in the predetermined direction; and the light path deflecting sections are provided such that the degree of the diffusion increases in the predetermined direction to be away from the light source.
