LANGUAGE-LEARNING SYSTEM

A language learning system for facilitating learning of a foreign language by a human having relative fluency in a familiar language including: a processor; a memory, adapted to store a first text in a first language and a pre-translated second text in a second language. The pre-translated second text comprises a human contextual translation of the first text. The processor and the memory including an associating mechanism adapted to dispose each translated word or phrase and a respective word or phrase of the first text in a paired, associative structure. System future including a display medium adapted to simultaneously display: a plurality of lines of the first text and a plurality of translated lines of the pre-translated second text. The processor is adapted, after each translated word or phrase and the respective word or phrase are disposed within the memory in the uniquely associated or paired manner, to receive a prompt pertaining to a first word or phrase on a particular line of the first text, and responsive to the prompt, and to identify, using the paired structure, a particular translated word or phrase in the pre- translated second text, and to control the display medium, to modify an appearance of the particular translated word or phrase, whereby a display of the particular translated word or phrase is imparted with a physical distinction with respect to a portion of a corresponding translated line.
