In addition to acting as a gas control additive, methylhydroxyethyl cellulose controls fluid loss, minimizes free fluid and stabilizes foam during cementing of the well. La méthylhydroxyéthyl cellulose peut être utilisée comme additif dans des bouillies de ciment dans le traitement de puits pour empêcher ou réduire l'apparition de cheminements préférentiels de gaz. En plus d'agir comme additif de contrôle de gaz, la méthylhydroxyéthyl cellulose contrôle une perte de fluide, réduit au minimum un fluide libre et stabilise un moussage pendant une cémentation du puits.
