BOREHOLE SEAL, BACKUP AND METHOD

A method and assembly for reducing a radial gap between radially proximate components including a setting member having a first dimension that partially defines the radial gap, the setting member including a circumferential groove extending radially from the first dimension, and a first toroid having a second dimension, the setting member operatively arranged to engage with the first toroid, wherein increasingly engaging the setting member with the first toroid enables a boundary dimension of the assembly to be extended toward the radial gap for reducing the radial gap, the circumferential groove operatively arranged to catch the first toroid when the setting member is fully engaged with the first toroid. L'invention concerne un procédé et un ensemble permettant de réduire un écartement radial entre des composants proches en sens radial, comprenant un élément de fixation ayant une première dimension qui délimite partiellement l'écartement radial, l'élément de fixation comprenant une rainure circonférentielle s'étendant en sens radial à partir de la première dimension, et un premier tore ayant une seconde dimension, l'élément de fixation étant disposé fonctionnellement pour venir en prise avec le premier tore, caractérisés en ce qu'une mise en prise croissante de l'élément de fixation avec le premier tore permet à la dimension des bords de l'ensemble de s'agrandir en direction de l'écartement radial pour réduire l'écartement radial, la rainure circonférentielle étant disposée fonctionnellement pour saisir le premier tore lorsque l'élément de fixation est en butée avec le premier tore.
