Zusammenfassung:	Strains and compositions of bacterium of the genus Propionibacterium are provided that reduce methane production in a ruminant animal. Strains and compositions can be used as a feed supplement. Also provided are methods for reducing methane production in a ruminant animal comprising the step of administering to the ruminant animal an effective amount of at least one strain of bacterium of the genus Propionibacterium. Cette invention concerne des souches et des compositions d'une bactérie du genre Propionibacterium qui réduisent la production de méthane chez un ruminant. Ces souches et ces compositions peuvent être utilisées sous forme d'un complément alimentaire. L'invention concerne également des procédés de réduction de la production de méthane chez un ruminant consistant à administrer audit ruminant une quantité efficace d'au moins une souche de bactérie du genre Propionibacterium.
