DELAYING AND/ OR TREATING HYPERGLYCEMIA, INCLUDING DIABETES, WITH POLY(ALKYL CARBOXYLIC ACIDS)

The present invention is directed to a method of delaying the onset of and/or treating hyperglycemia, particularly hyperglycemia caused by diabetes, comprising administering to a mammal in need thereof an effective amount of a poly(alkyl carboxylic acid), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Also described is a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of hyperglycemia, comprising an effective amount of a poly(alkyl carboxylic acid), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Also disclosed is a kit, comprising an effective amount of a poly(alkyl carboxylic acid), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and an effective amount of insulin. La présente invention concerne une méthode visant à retarder l'apparition de l'hyperglycémie et/ou à traiter cette dernière, notamment l'hyperglycémie provoquée par le diabète, cette méthode consistant à administrer à un mammifère en ayant besoin une quantité efficace d'un acide polyalkylcarboxylique, ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de celui-ci. L'invention concerne également une composition pharmaceutique destinée au traitement de l'hyperglycémie et comprenant une quantité efficace d'un acide polyalkylcarboxylique, ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de celui-ci, et un excipient pharmaceutiquement acceptable. L'invention concerne également un kit comprenant une quantité efficace d'un acide polyalkylcarboxylique, d'un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de celui-ci, et une quantité efficace d'insuline.
