There is provided a steering apparatus that includes a steering member (2) that is provided in a vehicle and that is capable of being turned so as to steer the vehicle; and a determination device (8, 208, 308) configured to determine that a kickback state is present if an operation point determined according to the steering angle of the steering member (2) and the steering torque that acts on the steering member (2) is outside a criterion region that is determined beforehand.
