La présente invention concerne des procédés permettant de modifier un substrat en l'exposant à un fluide densifié. Ledit substrat peut être un polymère ou un alliage métallique, et le fluide densifié peut être du dioxyde de carbone. Les utilisations d'une telle modification de substrat comprennent l'imprégnation du substrat avec un ou plusieurs médicaments, l'imprégnation de particules microcellulaires, et la formation de compositions microcellulaires.
