L'invention concerne un appareil de navigation (200) qui comprend une ressource de traitement (202) pouvant être couplée à un magasin de données (214) qui stocke des données représentant une zone par l'intermédiaire desquelles le dispositif peut guider un utilisateur, des moyens destinés à sélectionner une destination désirée et à calculer une route à partir de la position du dispositif jusqu'à la destination sélectionnée, et des moyens destinés à indiquer à l'utilisateur la position latérale du dispositif par rapport à sa direction longitudinale de trajet.
