La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour la conversion du glycérol en alcool isopropylique par l'alimentation d'une charge contenant du glycérol basique et un gaz contenant de l'hydrogène dans une zone de réaction comportant un lit stationnaire de catalyseur qui fonctionne à des conditions de conversion du glycérol, le réacteur comportant au moins une zone de refroidissement et l'alimentation d'une substance de refroidissement dans la zone de refroidissement.
