The invention relates to a method for producing bis(fluoralkyl)phosphinic acid chlorides or fluoralkyl phosphonic acid chlorides by converting the corresponding bis(fluoralkyl)phosphinic acid or fluoralkyl phosphonic acid by means of aryl tetrachlorophosphorane as a chlorination agent.
