A sensor determines a position of the member along the path based on a measurement of a magnetic field generated by the elongated magnet. L'invention concerne un système capteur de position qui comprend un élément mobile le long d'un chemin. Cet élément comprend un aimant allongé qui s'étend le long du chemin et dont l'orientation du champ magnétique forme un angle avec le chemin. Un capteur détermine une position de l'élément le long du chemin en mesurant un champ magnétique émis par l'aimant allongé.
