A message (202) is transmitted over a forward channel to a target device, wherein the message includes a preamble (208) of a predetermined time duration. A reverse channel is monitored (216) for a confirmation message from the target device. The transmission of the preamble is stopped (220) before expiration of the predetermined time duration upon receiving the confirmation message over the reverse channel. L'invention concerne un procédé (200) et un dispositif qui change de manière dynamique une durée de préambule d'un message. Un message (202) est transmis sur un canal aller vers un dispositif cible, le message comprenant un préambule (208) d'une durée prédéterminée. Un canal inverse (216) est surveillé concernant un message de confirmation provenant du dispositif cible. La transmission du préambule est interrompue (220) avant expiration de la durée prédéterminée lors de la réception du message de confirmation sur le canal inverse.
