ESTIMATING CROWDS

A method of estimating a number of people (1), of which at least some carry a mobile communication device (2), comprises the steps of: counting, at a first location (Ll), a first group of people so as to obtain a first number (NO), counting, at the first location (Ll), the number of enabled mobile communication devices (2) in the first group of people so as to obtain a second number (Nl), determining the ratio (R) of the first number (NO) and second number (Nl), counting, at a second location (L2), the number of enabled communication devices (2) so as to obtain a third number (N2), and using the ratio (R) to estimate the number of people at the second location (L2). The mobile communication devices (2) may be arranged for using the Bluetooth® protocol. L'invention concerne un procédé d'estimation d'un nombre de personnes (1), dont au moins une partie transporte un dispositif de communication mobile (2), comprenant les étapes consistant à : compter, dans un premier emplacement (L1), un premier groupe de personnes de manière à obtenir un premier nombre (NO), compter, au niveau du premier emplacement (L1) le nombre de dispositifs de communication mobile activés (2) dans le premier groupe de personnes de manière à obtenir un second nombre (N1), déterminer le rapport (R) du premier nombre (NO) et du second nombre (N1), compter, au niveau d'un second emplacement (L2) le nombre de dispositifs de communication activés (2) de manière à obtenir un troisième nombre (N2), et utiliser le rapport (R) pour estimer le nombre de personnes au niveau du second emplacement (L2). Les dispositifs de communication mobile (2) peuvent être agencés pour utiliser le protocole Bluetooth®.
