La présente invention a pour objet l'utilisation de dérivés de dioxolane comme agent filmogène dans des formulations pour revêtement de surface. Cet agent filmogène agit comme agent de coalescence et/ou comme agent de retard de séchage dans les formulations de systèmes de revêtement, comme peintures et vernis, particulièrement peintures industrielles, graphiques et architecturales.
