The present invention relates to a novel compound and its use, especially to 4-hydroxy-2,3-dimethoxy-6-methyl-5(3,7,11-trimethyl-dodeca-2,6,10-trienyl)-cyclohex-2-enone), which is separated from an extractant of Antrodia camphorate, and its use is in inhibiting the growth of tumour cells. The so-called compound of the present invention is found in Antrodia camphorate for the first time, and it may be used to inhibit the growth of tumour cells of breast cancer, liver cancer and prostate cancer.
