The gammas interact with target materials to produce large quantities of neutrons. L'invention concerne un générateur de neutrons, un appareil de production d'isotopes et un procédé d'utilisation de ceux-ci pour la production de neutrons à usage commercial et médical. La réaction gamma,n produit des neutrons dans le béryllium et le deutérium et le spectre des neutrons générés est formé en vue d'une optimisation de la capture des neutrons dans un isotope à émission gamma.
